Dear Talquin Electric Members,
As you may already be aware, Tropical Storm Idalia is currently being closely monitored by our team at Talquin Electric. Our primary focus is on preparing for potential impacts on our service territory, which are expected to be felt as early as Tuesday afternoon.
We strongly encourage all Members to take the necessary precautions and stock up on essential supplies ahead of the storm. To assist you in your preparations, we have compiled a range of resources including Hurricane Preparedness Guides, storm preparation checklists, and additional information, all of which can be accessed on our website, HERE.
The National Weather Service has indicated that there is a possibility of Idalia intensifying into a major hurricane before making landfall on the Gulf Coast of Florida. While the exact location and magnitude of the storm’s impacts remain uncertain, it is crucial for our region to be prepared. Historically, we have experienced high winds and heavy rainfall resulting in downed trees and localized flooding.
In line with our comprehensive Emergency Response Plan, we have activated “Storm Mode” to ensure a swift and efficient recovery effort. Our dedicated employees have transitioned to their assigned storm roles, and our vehicles are fully equipped and stocked. Additionally, mutual aid teams are on standby to provide assistance as required.
During significant events like this, our call volumes may increase, leading to longer wait times. We strongly encourage Members to use the Talquin Mobile App or our online reporting system for a prompt and convenient way to report outages.
For the convenience of Members in Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties, sandbag locations have been opened to assist those residing in flood-prone areas. To find out more about the sandbag locations, details, and sandbag limits in your county, please visit the respective websites listed below:

We strongly advise all Members to stay informed by regularly checking updates from the National Weather Service and NOAA. Members can also stay informed about Talquin’s services as this weather system develops by following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, or checking our website’s Alerts section regularly.
Your safety and well-being are of the utmost importance to us, and we are committed to ensuring a reliable and efficient response during this time. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to navigate Hurricane Idalia.
Stay safe and take care,
